Creative Crafthouse Puzzles
2014-2016
PROGRAMS USED:
Corel Draw
CHALLENGE:
Each project is a new and unique challenge at Creative Crafthouse. It is my job to create designs for different types of puzzles that will be sold online and created in our warehouse with a laser engraver on wood. I am primarily in charge of designing picture puzzles, which are graphic shapes that fit together one way inside a 6x6 frame. I also have experience making wooden and acrylic mazes, and other projects and brain teasers.
SOLUTION:
For the creation of the picture puzzles, each puzzle starts with a concept or theme. I gather a list of things that may be associated with this theme, and then I begin to draw in CorelDraw what some of the main pieces will be. It takes lots of trial and error to figure out an arrangement of the pieces that will be suitable for the square puzzles. Often times I have to make changes, add, and subtract pieces for the puzzles until I come up with a solution that is both workable and asthetically pleasing. Test pieces are made to make any last minute adjustments in the design, and then the designs are put into production.
